Sorry, abbreviated post this evening. Got off the road today at 5:30 or so. There is so much to do to get ready for the next day and quite frankly I'm pretty fried.
Today was HOT! Probably got into the mid-90s by 1 pm when we stopped for lunch. About 25 miles from luch most of our morning group had imploded. There simply is no shade in the NM desert. I overate at lunch and then back into the head. You ever see a python eat a goat or pig? That is pretty much how I felt on the bike for the early part of the afternoon. We were plagued with headwinds for the first 100 miles or so which didn't help. The forecast called for a switch to favorable winds later in the day.
Two miracles happened, we got a good tailwind by mile 135 and clouds moved in over the mountains which brought our speed up considerably.
I was a great day with lots of things to see. I will have to post pics later.
got to go to bed to get ready for tomorrow which will be equally challenging, however we start climbing to over 7000 feet so the temps should be cooler!
